Republica are an English alternative rock band, formed in 1994. The height of their popularity spanned from 1996 to 1999. The current line-up consists of Saffron (vocals), Tim Dorney (keyboards), Johnny Male (guitar), Conor Lawrence (drums).

Their sound was described by the band as “technopop punk rock”. The band went on hiatus in 2001 and reunited in 2008. They are best known for the single “Ready to Go”.

In 1998, The Republica released their first and only album, Speed Ballads. The album featured the singles “Ready to Go” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous”. It also featured an innovative style of mixing techno/dance music with a heavier guitar-driven sound.

After their debut album, The Republica took a break, and all three members pursued other projects. Saffron released a solo album in 2006 and has toured with former Republica bandmate Davey Brown.

Despite their limited success and short career, Republica remain a cult favourite among alternative rock fans. Their influence can be seen in contemporary bands such as The Killers and Ladytron. The Republica have reunited several times over the years, and continue to perform live at a variety of festivals and events.
