As a youngster he performed as part of Frankie Lymon‘s Sing and Dance Troupe.
In 1961, Campbell released his first single “Little Honey” / “Luke Lane Shuffle” whilst also producing for other artists.
The UK band “Madness” take their name from one of his releases and they covered some of his songs.
In the 1970s, Prince Buster’s career began to wane; however, he still managed to release some well-regarded albums. In the late 1970s, Prince Buster retired from the music business, but still made occasional appearances at live shows. In 2001, he was inducted into the Caribbean Hall of Fame for his contribution to Jamaican music.
