Ketevan “Katie” Melua (born 16 September 1984) is a Georgian-British singer, songwriter and musician. She moved to Northern Ireland at the age of eight and then to England at fourteen. In 2006, she was the United Kingdom’s best-selling female artist and Europe’s highest selling European female artist.

At the age of 19, Melua released her first album, Call Off the Search, which reached the top of the United Kingdom album charts and sold 1.8 million copies in its first five months of release. Her debut single from the album “Closest Thing To Crazy” was in the running for the Christmas Number One in 2003.
Following this she toured in Europe and the U.S., and in 2006 her 2nd album Piece By Piece was released. It topped both the international and British charts and landed at three on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart in the US. The album spawned the U.K. Top Five hit single “Nine Million Bicycles” and eventually went four times platinum. It also garnered her two BRIT Award nominations for British Female Solo Artist and Pop Act.
On 2 October 2006, Melua entered the Guinness Book of Records for playing the deepest underwater concert 303 metres below sea level in the North Sea.
