More About Gary Barlow

In the late 1980’s, having been doing the circuits as a solo artist, Gary was introduced to Nigel Martin-Smith, who was keen to start a boy band and wanted Gary as the lead singer and driving force behind it. Soon Take That was formed with Jason Orange, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and finally Robbie Williams completing the line up. Between the years of 1993 and 1996, every song written by Gary Barlow and performed by Take That was a major hit, but unfortunately, rivalry between Barlow and Williams meant the band decided to split after their Greatest Hits Album was released.

Gary took a back seat from the limelight and instead concentrated on songwriting and producing for performers such as Delta Goodrem, Atomic Kitten, Charlotte Church and Donny Osmond. He further proved himself as a songwriter through collaborations with the likes of Christina Aguilera and Elton John.

In 2005 Take That reformed (minus Robbie Williams) and the songs “Patience” “Shine” and “Greatest Day” written by Barlow were all instant hits. Robbie Williams rejoined the group in 2010

On 30th May 2011, Gary Barlow was confirmed as the new X-Factor judge who was to take over from Simon Cowell. He did three series of X-Factor before hanging up his judges mantle and handing it back to Simon Cowell.
