About Faith Hill

Faith Hill (born Audrey Faith Perry; September 21, 1967) is an American singer, songwriter, actress and record producer. She is one of the most successful country artists of all time, having sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. Hill is married to American singer Tim McGraw with whom she has recorded several duets.

Hill was raised in Mississippi by adoptive parents, Pat and Edna Perry. As a child, her first singing experience was in her family’s Baptist church. As a teenager, she learned to play guitar and at 16 formed her own band; performing at local fairs and rodeos. After graduating from high school in 1986, she spent a year in college before moving to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her love of music.

In Nashville, Hill found work as a receptionist at a music publishing company before getting a job packaging fan merchandise for Reba McEntire, her idol. She had her professional breakthrough when singing back-up for Gary Burr in the Bluebird Café Nashville when she was spotted by a talent scout from the Warner/Reprise recording company. Her debut album, “Take Me As I Am”,   released in 1993, was a great success. The first single from it, “Wild One”, reached No.1 on the Billboard country charts and the album itself went triple platinum.

Hill’s second album, “It Matters To Me”, was also a major success. This was followed by the album “Faith” (1998), where the single “This Kiss” brought her international success, and then “Breathe” (1999) which became one of the best country albums of all time: earning Hill three Grammy Awards.

In 2001, Hill recorded “There You’ll Be” for the Pearl Harbour soundtrack. This became an international hit and her best-selling single in Europe.  Her next two albums, “Cry” (2002) and “Fireflies” (2005) were also successful.

Hill has won many awards; including several Grammy Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards and American Music Awards.
