Everly Brothers

Everly Brothers – Phil (Phillip Everly (January 19, 1939 – January 3, 2014)) and Don (Isaac Donald Everly (February 1, 1937 – August 21, 2021)) Everly were American brothers who shot to fame in their teen years with their song “Bye Bye Love” (written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant who wrote most of their subsequent hits). They were especially noted for their close harmony singing style.

They were no strangers to performing as they had been part of a radio show hosted by their parents. Dad (Ike) was a keen guitar player and their Mother (Margaret) sang. Ike instilled in his sons his own love for music, from country and western to blues and everything in between and encouraged the boys to sing and to learn guitar.

The Everly Brothers were popular artists worldwide in the 1950’s through 1970’s and even The Beatles cited them as a musical influence. They have been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
