Chvrches, a synth-pop band from Scotland, UK, emerged in 2011 when keyboardist/vocalist Iain Cook formed the group with band members Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry.

In 2012, they released their debut single, “The Mother We Share.” Later that year, Chvrches gained recognition by being selected for the BBC’s Sound of 2013. As 2013 began, the trio played several North American dates. In September, they released their album ‘The Bones of What You Believe.’ This album debuted at number nine on the U.K. albums chart and earned gold certification in the U.K. Moreover, it reached the Top 20 on charts in Canada, Australia, and the United States.

Influenced by acts like Madonna, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, and Cyndi Lauper, the band draws inspiration from these musical icons. Chvrches writes, records, mixes, and masters their songs in a basement studio in Glasgow.
