Chris Montez (born Ezekiel Christopher Montanez on January 17, 1943) is an American guitarist and singer, whose stylistic approach has ranged from rock & roll to pop standards and Latin music.

Montez was born to a Mexican-American family in Los Angeles, California. His father was a migrant worker who traveled throughout California and Arizona in search of employment. Montez began performing when he was fourteen, playing in a ‘group called The Mixers’ at various clubs in Los Angeles.

Montez’s first hit single, “Let’s Dance,” was released in 1962. The single immediately catapulted Montez into the music industry, and it was a massive international success, reaching number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number two in the United Kingdom. Following the success of “Let’s Dance,” Montez went on to record a series of pop hits and Latin-influenced records, including “Call Me,” “The More I See You,” and “Ay, Ay, Ay.”

In the mid-1970s, Montez experienced a career resurgence, and he scored a number of hits; including a remake of “Let’s Dance,” and the Top-20 hit “There Will Never Be Another You.” He has remained active in music over the decades, performing and recording regularly. Throughout his career, Montez has sold over twenty-five million records, and his songs have been covered by artists such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Paul McCartney.
