In a career spanning over 70 years, he recorded more than 1,200 songs interpreted in 9 languages.
He wrote or co-wrote more than 1,000 songs for himself and others and is regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time and an icon of 20th-century pop culture.

Born in Paris, Charles was surrounded by the performing arts. His mother was a seamstress as well as an actress and his father was a baritone who sang in restaurants. By the age of nine he had appeared on stage for the first time and later toured as a child performer with a traveling theatrical troupe. One of his mentors was Edith Piaf which whom he lived for a while.
By the late 1950’s he was appearing in films and was eventually dubbed the “Frank Sinatra of France”.
Between 1974 and 2016, Charles Aznavour officially received around sixty gold and platinum records around the world.
In 2017, Charles Aznavour was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
