Harry Lillis “Bing” Crosby, Jr. (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Crosby was known for his warm bass-baritone voice and he was the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century: having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world.

In 1963, Crosby received the first Grammy Global Achievement Award. He has been inducted into the halls of fame for both radio and popular music. In 2007, he was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame and in 2008 the Western Music Hall of Fame.

Crosby has been associated with the Christmas season since Irving Berlin’s musical film Holiday Inn, in which he starred and famously sang “White Christmas”.
