Barbara’s love of music was evident from an early age and she began studying piano at the age of five and by twelve had also taken up the guitar.

Barbara was offered the role of the musician/ singer in a 1974 musical ‘John, Paul, George, Ringo… and Bert’, staged at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool. She was on stage throughout the entire performance singing the songs of The Beatles.

First single was Answer Me released in 1976 and a regular slot on the hit TV show Two Ronnies ensured Barbara Dickson’s rise. The popular song ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ from the musical Evita,  (Tim Rice Andrew Lloyd Webber) was her second hit and after a move to the CBS records label Barbara continued her success with hit singles including ‘Caravans’ and ‘January, February’ and ‘The Barbara Dickson Album’ in 1980 provided her with her first gold album.
