Arthur Conley Backing Tracks

Arthur Conley was an American soul singer-songwriter born on January 4, 1946, in McIntosh, Georgia. He is best known for his hit single “Sweet Soul Music.”

Conley began his music career at an early age, singing in church and local gospel groups. In 1964, he moved to Atlanta, where he joined a vocal group called Arthur & The Corvets. It was during this time that he caught the attention of Otis Redding, who signed him to his record label, Redwal Music.

In 1967, Conley released his most successful song, “Sweet Soul Music.” The song was a tribute to the soul music genre and became an instant hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Its success helped establish Conley as a prominent figure in the soul music scene.

Throughout the 1960s, Conley released several more singles, including “Funky Street” and “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” which achieved moderate success. However, he struggled to replicate the same level of success as “Sweet Soul Music.”

Tragically, Conley’s career was cut short when he died at the age of 57. Despite his relatively short career, Arthur Conley made a significant impact on the soul music genre and left behind a legacy as one of its greats.
