Synopsis

Set in the late 1970s, the story centers around Violet Newstead, a savvy and experienced office manager; Judy Bernly, a recently divorced woman entering the workforce for the first time; and Doralee Rhodes, a secretary who is wrongly stereotyped based on her looks. These three women are brought together by their mutual frustration with their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” of a boss, Franklin Hart Jr.

After a series of comedic mishaps, they find themselves in a position to enact changes they’ve only dreamed of, temporarily taking over the office while Hart is indisposed. Under their unconventional leadership, the office becomes a more inclusive, productive, and supportive workplace, reflecting their vision of how a modern office should be run.

“9 to 5: The Musical” blends sharp humor with catchy tunes, all while delivering an inspiring message about female empowerment, equality, and friendship. Through its energetic score and relatable characters, the show resonates with audiences, encouraging them to challenge the status quo and strive for positive change in their own lives.
