Mike Oldfield is an English musician and composer, best known for his instrumental 1973 album Tubular Bells on which he plays more than 20 different instruments, which have been layered to spectacular effect. It was used in the opening theme of the film The Exorcist. In 1975, Tubular Bells received a Grammy award for best instrumental composition. His best known vocal based single is Moonlight Shadow.

Since then he has produced many albums, mostly from home studios and collaborated with the likes of Robert Wyatt, Bonnie Tyler and Max Bacon.

In 2022 Mike Oldfield embarked on a 50th Anniversary Tubular Bells tour. It featured a full band and a visual interpretation by performance company ‘Circa Contemporary Circus’.
