Major Lazer is a conceptual Electronic Dance Music (EDM) act based around a fictional character launched in 2008 as the digital reggae/dancehall project of Diplo, an American DJ/producer.

It was founded by Diplo and Switch, with Switch leaving after three years in 2011. He was then replaced by both Jillionaire and Walshy Fire.

Major Lazer won the award for Best Dance/Electronic Song at the Billboard Music Awards for the song “Lean On” in 2016.

By October 2018 Major Lazer had released 4 studio albums with guest appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber, M0, Anne Marie and Ellie Goulding. A fifth album was released in 2020.
