Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) is an American R&B, funk, and soul music group, composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers. Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, they would later move to New Bedford, Massachusetts. They were inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

The Tavares brothers — Arthur, Ralph Vierra, Perry Lee, Antone, and Feliciano Tavares, nicknamed “Pooch,” “Tiny,” “Chubby,” and “Butch” — started the group in 1964 as Chubby & the Turnpikes in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Their grandparents taught them traditional folk songs, while their older brother John helped them hone their doo wop style of singing. In 1969, the group became Tavares. They began singing in New England clubs and were signed to Capitol Records in 1973.
In 2012 the group toured together with the Four Tops and the Temptations.
In 2013, the brothers were honoured with “Lifetime Achievement Awards” by The National R&B Music Society. All six brothers attended and performed on stage together for the first time in 37 years.
