Mary J Blige is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, model, record producer and actress. Starting her career as a backing singer on Uptown Records in 1989. She released her first debut album, What’s the 411?, in 1992. Mary J Blige has made over 150 guest appearances on other albums and soundtracks and in April 2017, her thirteenth studio album, Strength of a Woman, was released. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and topped the R&B Albums chart.

Mary J Blige has received many awards and achievements including VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Artist of All Time, she was listed as one of the 50 most influential R&B singers and Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album My Life at number 279 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Called the “Queen of R&B” for her success in the realm of R&B, Blige has amassed ten number one albums on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and she is also the only artist to have won Grammys in the R&B, hip hop, pop, and gospel fields.
