They are one of the best-selling bands in the history of rock music, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide, including 21 million RIAA-certified albums. On April 10, 2014, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The original lineup of Kiss released their debut album in 1974. The album was a commercial success, selling over three million copies in the United States. The band’s next album, Destroyer, was even more successful, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured the hit singles “Beth” and “Detroit Rock City”.

Kiss’ popularity continued to grow in the late 1970s. The band’s fourth album, Dynasty, was released in 1979 and featured the hit singles “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” and “Sure Know Something”. The band’s next album, 1980’s Unmasked, was less successful than its predecessor, but still managed to achieve gold status.

The early 1980s saw Kiss’ popularity begin to decline. The band’s 1981 album, Music from “The Elder”, was a commercial and critical failure. The group was further hampered by the departure of drummer Peter Criss in 1980.

Kiss made a comeback in the mid 1980s with the release of the album Lick It Up. The album marked the return of the band’s original lineup and was a commercial success. The group’s next album, Animalize, was another success, reaching the top ten of the Billboard 200.

Kiss’ popularity continued into the early 1990s with the release of the album Revenge. The album featured the hit single “God of Thunder”. The band’s next album, Carnival of Souls, was less successful, but still managed to reach the top 40 of the Billboard 200.
